If they were not punctual, they would not be able to harvest well and in turn, not survive in the Winter. People of color, near/south of the equator, did not face the same problem. They could harvest year-round and did not need to be punctual with their crops in order to survive their non-existent Winter. It’s shaped the way our cultures deal with time. For some, time was not a commodity. Life did not depend on it. For others, being punctual with time was necessary to survive.  Or something like that.
